I started CTFS with two aims in mind. Firstly, I aim to provide a safe and creative space for theatre and film enthusiasts who use Mandarin as their primary creative medium. Secondly, expanding the target audience to non-Chinese to explore the possibilities of cross-cultural theatre/films in the context of the globalised world. I was the first president of the society. Under my leadership, the society managed to recruit over 50 members, staged performances with audiences of over 100 people, curated film events with over 1000 views online, established links with the National University of Singapore through facilitating the NUS-UOB Bicultural Theatre Exchange online event, and achieved the Bronze Award for the University of Bristol’s Balloon Accreditation Scheme. A scheme that seeks to recognise societies that display excellence through inclusion and community impact, amongst other things. During my tenure, I also held bi-weekly theatre workshops for amateurs & direct the society’s annual production.
